Currency Code & Symbol Finder
Search by country, currency name, ISO 4217 code, or symbol. A currency symbol does not always uniquely identify a currency — prefer the ISO code. This is a static reference (no live rates). For conversion, use the Currency Converter.

Important distinctions
- Symbols are not unique
- A currency symbol does not always uniquely identify a currency. Always pair a symbol with its ISO 4217 code (for example USD, not only $).
- Reference vs conversion
- This page lists codes and symbols. It does not show live exchange rates — use the Currency Converter for rates.
Frequently asked questions
Can two countries use the same currency symbol?
Yes. A currency symbol does not always uniquely identify a currency. For example, $ appears with USD, CAD, AUD, and others. Prefer the ISO 4217 code.
Why don’t I see live exchange rates?
This finder is a static ISO 4217 reference. For live conversion, use the separate Currency Converter, which integrates a rate source.
Official vs accepted currencies
Rows marked official come from country currency assignments in the dataset. Commonly accepted foreign cash (e.g. USD tourism use) is not listed unless verified as an official tender here.
